HIYA

So here's another video I made, it's a little different from what I usually do, it's made up of lots of awesome movie clips and stuff and I enjoyed working on it quite a lot!

sorry I have to put the link here because the embedding thing has changed and it is so annoying, so check it out: HEEEERRRRRREEEEEEEE

BAM BAM

So I'm still really busy, and that is great - but in the meantime, this happened...

About a couple of months ago I made this video for a friend of mine and all was well but unfortunately her manager decided at the last minute that it 'wasn't needed' and wasn't going to be put online. BUT I felt that because I'd put a lot of work into it and felt that people should see it, so I put it online anyway... hahaha

So here it is!

REBEL

SORRY

It's been a while, I actually have a more portfolio-style website now which has all my lyric videos on - take a look: strikingly.com/emmiebednall

BUT IN THE MEANTIME

I've finally watched all the Star Wars films and now I love Star Wars...

LET IT BREATHE

I've been having some issues with my domain name so I don't even know if people can see this anymore but ANYWAY... I've been working away on more lyric videos and here's a new one!

It was made with the help of my talented friend Catherine Unger and we went for a more sketchy kinda vibe that we thought suited the song nicely. Enjoy!

SERIES 2

I mentioned this a while ago but probably should again... SERIES 2 of Operation Ouch has been on CBBC at 17:30 on mondays for about 4 weeks, so if you've been missing it, you've been missing out on such gems as this:

I worked on a lot more of the animation for this series so chances are, if you've seen any of it I would've probably animated something on it, woo!

CC PAGE TURN

I've been making more lyric videos - hooray, I hear the crowd cry.

This one is for a jovial young fellow named Big Narstie working with producers True Tiger for their track Headgone.

Have a watch here:

Obviously made in a 'comic book' style (which I potentially may have regretted as an idea starting point haha) and it made full use of animation preset CC page turn (THANKS after effects) but I do like it, there are some bits I probably should do again but time was running out - it was needed for its premiere on Noisey a music off-spin of Vice which I thought was kinda cool.

DOUBLE

HELLO

So, again, I've been busy - finishing up with the second series of Operation Ouch! for CBBC (more about that later), working more for Nickelodeon and doing general other projects one of which is THIS:

A lyric video for the talented Jessica Agombar (once of Parade """fame"""). I got to do whatever I wanted with it and I'm pretty pleased with the results, the patterns came from old indian designs mixed with some traditional chinese but re-created in a modern style. I think it fits the track well.

I also did a little bit of artwork for the track:

Based on the patterns again combined with Jessica's love of these awful flats in Bow where she's from hahaha.

OH AND ALSO it all got featured on popjustice which is a website I go on a lot so I'm pretty pleased about that (for me and her)

ELEDEE

Sorry I have been too busy with work and laziness to do anything HOWEVER, at the minute I'm watching my housemate Adam play this game called Eledee's on the Wii and it's so cute, I couldn't resist drawing one of the characters (whilst I was at work...)

FALL INTO ME

I just remembered to post this, I have been too busy in life... here's another lyric video I made for a lovely fellow named Dj Askery, it mixed real footage with the usual motion graphics stuff, which I enjoyed doing a lot.

PINHOLED

For christmas I was given a 'make your own pinhole camera' kit and even though I've played with pinhole cameras (well, boxes with holes in) before I've never had one that involves shooting onto actual film instead of photographic paper. It was fun playing with it and not having to set up paper every time, and being able to wind on the film with the feel of an actual camera.

I finally took the photos to be developed the other day and unfortunately was given the prints for free because the man at the counter said there was "nothing on them"... I think he was wrong, what was printed were these crazy, creepy looking landscape photos which I actually really love...

snow and sunsets

The man in boots was actually really helpful (despite saying the film was blank) and gave me loads of old film canisters and old disposable cameras to take apart and use the lenses, flashes and cases to improve my pinhole camera, bless you Phillip.

MORE LYRICS

A couple of weeks ago I finished working on a lyrics video for a delightful young man named Hudson Henry. He saw the one I made for Parade and liked the clean style of it so asked me to make him one in a similar vein and hey presto... here are the results...

TEENEVENTS

Hello again

So I've been working alongside Olly again, creating an instructional/information video for a new site he's working on (which is gonna be really cool) you can follow his progress here: http://www.olivermeakings.com/

Haven't animated anything like this before, it was a bit of a challenge trying to create the right imagery and voice over that was universally understandable but I think we've nearly nailed it.

Take a look here:

Teen Events Demo Video 2 from Oliver Meakings on Vimeo.

also includes; a unicorn clock, "bubbly's in the fridge" woman, the worlds grumpiest cat and a pug with a parasol. See if you can spot them all...

OTHER

Now I have some free time on my hands, I'm off to work on some other animation for myself, I will keep all my avid readers posted on how it's going but for now... here's a cactus

DIPLO

One of a set I drew for my new (coming soon) little brother's bedroom, more to follow...at some point

OUCH

So I mentioned earlier this year that I'd been working on something for a new show on CBBC, and it's finally on tv - shown on Wednesday at 5:45 on the cbbc channel. Hooray!

I'm not sure how much I can say still since it's just started, but here's a couple of screen grabs from some of the bits I worked on *SPOILERS*

Check it out. The show is a bit too gross for me though. Hahaha.

THIS IS NORMAL

Here's another thing I did...

It's a music video for The Soundcarriers (feat. Elijah Wood) and has this kinda psychedelic kinda retro-y vibe, with lots of shapes and colours and things. It's long, but stick with it...

^^ That youtube player is so pants. Square videos?! What is this 1955? So here's the link if you'd like to go to youtube.

AUGUST UPDATES

So yeah... I've been busy...

Been working on a new series for CBBC, don't think I can say much yet but here's a tiny screengrab from one of the end episodes where I've been drawn in

Forever with headphones in. I have them in now, I'm not even listening to music...

ONWARDS

Have also started work on a new music video for The Soundcarriers, it's got a "retro" kinda vibe and features someone kinda cool

It's gonna be fun working with shapes and stuff, and trying to get a 60s kinda vibe.

So there you go. THERE'S MORE... but I can't tell you about that yet.

LIGHT ME UP

Here's a thing that I did...

Oh Parade, why must I keep returning to you?! Anyway, they have this free download out and they needed some kind of video to go with it, step forward chief animator of the band, Emmie...it took some sleepless nights but here we go.

(UPDATE: 11,000+ views in two days isn't too shabby UPDATE 2: it's passed 77,000 views, woo)

AND HERE'S A BULLDOG

In progress...

PORTRAITS

I wanted to try out a more 'painty' (official term) style of drawing on photoshop, which I guess everyone goes through when they're about 14, but I'm a bit behind. As I generally have some trouble drawing people/faces I thought I'd have a go at that subject. The basis behind these are some really rough sketches I did whilst I was away with Parade - unfortunately they tend to move a million miles a second so I had to draw them in terribly boring poses, however, for this exercise I guess it kinda helped me.

Here's an initial example

So from there I moved onto photoshop, but I guess they're really static and I'm not sure if I like them, there are some bits I do like obviously and some I don't. Mainly the faces, but I need to keep working at those, here's a couple completed anyway

and the rest I haven't finished...

Stuck on faces...again...think I just prefer them all as rough sketches anyway. No more neat pictures. Ever.
